What We Are Looking For
The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is seeking a Research Impacts Specialist to support the mission of the university by developing curriculum for Baylor researchers’ grant proposals. This position will require an individual who has experience with equity-promoting pedagogies and knowledge of national and state education standards.
A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, an active Christian faith and five years of relevant experience is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered lieu of the required education and/or experience.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
Additional preferred attributes:
- At least 5 years of experience teaching science at elementary and middle or high school grade levels
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations
- Demonstrated ability to write curriculum for science lessons for elementary and/or middle grade levels
What You Will Do
- Develop K-12 educational curriculum for Baylor researchers’ grant proposals
- Create evaluation component for developed curriculum and assist in performing evaluation assessment if grant is awarded
- Develop curriculum for special events such as STEM Night, Engineer’s Week, and National STEM Day
- Serve as educational ambassador between community groups and faculty to communicate Baylor science and research to the broad public, including students, teachers, and parents
- Supervise graduate student videographer intern to develop educational videos
- Manage the process for faculty members in developing 1-4 minute video scripts that explain their science in language appropriate for targeted audience.
- Lead faculty members to develop a Research Impacts plan using Baylor resources and the ARIS Broader Impacts Wizard
- Help faculty members identify and connect with both on-campus and community partners to help them develop collaborations for their Research Impact plans
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
