GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To provide clerical and technical support for the Alternative Teacher Certification Program staff. Perform the full range of duties as assigned including serving as a receptionist, providing information and assistance to students, staff and the public. Perform technical operations including registration, financial processes and maintenance (class) forms required in Colleague, WebAdvisor, etc. This position reports to the Program Director of Alternative Teacher Certification and exercises no supervision.
NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: More than one year of work experience in an office environment, including work study, graduate work, and internships.
 
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge of: 1. MCC registration, financial, and program procedures. 2. Operating various electronic equipment, such as computers, scanners, copiers, recording devices, etc. Skills in: 3. Basic record keeping, correspondence, and proofreading. 4. Accuracy and organization. 5. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 6. Proficiency with Microsoft applications and internal software. 7. Work independently without close supervision using critical thinking. Ability to: 8. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 9. Provide superior customer service when dealing with diverse populations. 10. Create and maintain accurate records and reports. 11. Learn new software quickly and stay abreast of new software applications.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
 
BENEFITS:
Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).
