Direct and manage the maintenance and custodial operations of the district. Maintain the
physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use
may be made at all times. Provide students with a physical learning environment that is
safe, clean, attractive, and functional.

Direct and manage the transportation and vehicle maintenance program of all districtowned
vehicles. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Transportation
Department.

Coordinate and oversee all new construction and renovation projects in the district. Ensure
compliance with all planning and zoning requirement.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree preferred
 
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of energy management
Knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Facility Responsibilities and Repair
1. Develop and maintain written departmental procedures for maintenance, repair, and
operations of all district buildings and equipment.
 2. Prepare plans and specifications for contracted repair work and site improvement for
submissions to purchasing department for bids.
3. Serve as liaison to architects, engineers, and consultants to develop, review and finalize
project plans, drawings, schematics, and specifications. Coordinate and conduct project
development and construction progress.
4. Work with city, county, state, and federal officials to ensure conformity with codes and
ordinances regulating district construction projects.
5. Develop and maintain construction progress schedules.
6. Conduct on-site inspection of construction projects to ensure conformance with construction
documents, programs and needs.
7. Inspect existing facilities and make recommendations for improvements as needed and
establish and recommend priorities for repair projects.
8. Expedite documentation and completion of punch-list items and coordinate transition of
building operation from general contractor to district upon acceptance of a facility.
9. Track warranty expiration dates and make final warranty check prior to end of warranty
periods. Oversee warranty correction work.
10. Participate in the prequalification of approval process for architects, engineers, and
contactors.
11. Consult faculty, administrative staff, and community to determine program-driven design
needs.
 
Policy, Reports, and Law
12. Complete periodic reports of construction project progress and make presentations to the
board.
13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required including
coordinating the storage and handling of construction documents.
 
Budget and Inventory
14. Plan and direct inventory and stock control program for equipment and supplies.
15. Recommend and oversee disposal of obsolete equipment and purchase replacement
equipment when necessary.
16. Initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district
policies.
17. Estimate cost of construction and repair projects, including labor, materials, and other related
costs and assist with the preparation of bidding documents, including notice and instructions
to bidders, drawings, and specifications.
18. Assist with the evaluation of formal bids and provide input into recommendations for the
awarding of contracts for school board approval.
19. Review and authorize requests for payment from contractor(s) and designer(s).
20. Ensure that programs are cost-effective and funds are managed wisely.

21. Maintain safety standards in conformance with federal, state, and insurance regulations.

Supervise and evaluate performance of the Maintenance Coordinator, the Transportation
Coordinator, Custodial Coordinator, and department secretary.
