Windham School District provides educational programs to meet the needs of the residents within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. We currently operate on 9 campuses within Region 12 ESC and have 97 campuses total throughout Texas. We are recognized as one of the largest correctional education systems in the nation offering a variety of life skills, literacy, vocational, and post-secondary classes, including CTE.

Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Group: Contract Hourly
Primary Purpose: Preserve the normal routine of the classroom and follow the plans left by the teacher of record.
High school diploma from an accredited high school or hold GED.
Fifteen credit hours from an accredited college or university preferred.
Elementary or Secondary teaching certification in a foundation subject area highly preferred.
Teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide instruction to students.
2. Perform absent teacher’s class plan.
3. Maintain the established routines and procedures of the campus and classroom.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
Policy, Reports, and Law:
5. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties.
6. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.
7. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.
8. Execute duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247, Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
