GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To care for and educate children ages 12 weeks to school age in a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment following criteria from NAEYC, Texas Rising Star and Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards. Also, to model high-quality interactions, guidance and education strategies for college students and visitors to the lab school. This position reports to the Program Director, Child Development Lab School and exercises no supervision. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, OR the equivalency to an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with at least 30 credits in an early childhood education-related field. 
Experience: One year of experience working with young children, ages birth to five (5) years. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in an Education-related field for 1 year of experience. 
Special Requirements: Commitment to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within first six weeks of employment.
 
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 9. Communicate professionally using oral and written methods. 10. Problem-solve and make classroom decisions in a timely manner. 11. Model appropriate teaching, interaction, and guidance strategies for lab students and teacher aides. 
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Restricted-Sustained posture, for prolonged periods; light lifting, some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Unpleasant Exposure Minor Hazard-Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors are present.  There is occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions. Frequency and severity are limited.
