POSITION TITLE: Athletic Director-Coach-Secondary Core Teacher 2024-2025 School Year

LOCATION: Morgan Independent School District

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 11 months

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and coach students and coaches to develop skills and ability to excel in sport assigned. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university (Master’s Preferred) 
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned 
Preferred Three-to-Five Years of classroom/coaching experience
CDL w/ endorsement of passenger and endorsement of air brakes (preferred)
Administrative experience preferred 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
·       Knowledge of subject assigned (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.) 
·       General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures: knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
·       Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes in a fair and equitable manner; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
·       Skills in communication, public relations, conflict resolution, problem solving, scheduling, collaboration, and coordination.
·       Ability to build morale and support, organize, evaluate situations quickly and make quality decisions according to available information, maintain control in emergency situations,                communicate with many diverse situations at the same time.
·       Ability to attend events on weekends and evenings.
·       Ability to counsel with teachers, parents, staff and students.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities as it relates to Athletic Director:
The primary responsibility of the Athletic Director is administration and supervision of the school district's athletic programs, which will include all high school and middle school sports within the Morgan Independent School District. He/she is the district's liaison for athletics and shall participate fully in the coordination of coaches at his/her assigned sport.

GENERAL DUTIES and PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
·       Shall present a positive image of the school to parents, and convey to them the school's genuine concern with the education, growth and development of each student.
·       Shall seek to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
·       Shall work to develop a positive public relationship between the school district and the community.
·       Shall carry out assignments in a timely manner without undue checking.
·       Shall react positively to directives.
·       Shall have a willingness to cooperate with the superintendent, district administrators, principals, and staff
·       Shall maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student's educational record.
·       Shall strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
·       Shall take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities,
·       Shall adhere to School Board of Education Policies and Procedures.
·       Shall determine appropriate action for athletic discipline within clearly defined guidelines.
·       Shall organize and administer the overall program of interscholastic extracurricular athletics for the district.
·       Shall foster good school-community relations by keeping the community informed in all aspects of the district's athletic programs.
·       Shall organize and schedule of all interscholastic athletic events with the assistance of coaches.
·       Shall arrange transportation for athletic contest participants and complete all necessary pre and post documentation for those contests in a proper and timely manner.
·       Shall coordinate officials for games through the Waco Chapter for all home game and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
·       Shall arrange provision for meals for athletes and coaches in a timely manner when approved by the campus administration.
·       Shall develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
·       Shall oversee academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport.
·       Shall supervise the cleaning, storage, and care of all athletic equipment.
·       Shall arrange all details of visiting teams’ needs, including locker room usage, meals, water, gymnasium/field. 
·       Shall make all necessary arrangements for the use of non-school playing fields and facilities. (e.g. Little Dribblers)
·       Shall oversee and coordinate, with all coaches, all summer athletic program activities.
·       Shall oversee the fairness of practice schedules as they relate to available time on the fields and in the gymnasiums.
·       Shall provide for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season and have those records submitted to the school nurse for record keeping.
·       Shall plan and supervise an annual recognition program for school athletes.
·       Shall be the direct supervisor of ALL coaches.
·       Shall be responsible for all cancellations and make-up of athletic contests because of weather in accordance with the superintendent's directive for school cancellation.
·       Shall assure that ALL athletic contests held at his/her school are properly supervised, security provided, officials are secured, and that the facility is ready for the sport's activity.
·       Shall make reports of the physical conditions of the athletic facilities at his/her school location to the Superintendent and send the request for needed repairs, etc.
·       Shall attend all district, area, and regional meetings that pertain to UIL sanctioned athletic events.
·       Shall develop a checklist for all sports equipment with a rating scale of Excellent, Good, Fair and Poor. This rating scale will assist the superintendent in making decisions.
