Summary

Troy Students to Teachers Education Partnership (T-STEP) is a project selected for funding by the Texas Education Agency to establish a new career cluster at Troy High School in Education and Training, with an emphasis on preparing future teachers for successful careers in the classroom. The successful candidate will coordinate the planning, organization, preparation, and implementation of the Perkins Reserve Grant.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Carry out grant activities as outlined in the approved grant application.
  2. Prepare required grant reports and submit according to established deadlines.
  3. Establish strong working relationships with industry partners and institutes of higher education collaborators.
  4. Recruit students to the program and monitor their progress toward graduation from high school and enrollment in a teacher preparation program leading to eventual teacher certification.
  5. Establish and then facilitate a local chapter of Texas Association of Future Educators.
  6. Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Accountability, Troy High School principal, counselor, and teachers to achieve grant goals and outcomes.
  7. Assist the T-STEP teacher to monitor students placed in classrooms and with industry partners.
  8. Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Texas Teacher Certification or Texas School Counselor Certification
     
Experience/Qualifications 

  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Career and Technology Courses and TEKS desired
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and industry partners
  • Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses
  • Must be passionate about the teaching profession and desire to see students succeed as teachers
