GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Plans, directs and evaluates all aspects of the teacher certification program that meets the needs of public, private, and charter school districts, as well as the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This position works closely with the McLennan Community College Child Studies and Education Program, area school districts, community agencies, and other stakeholders to meet the local teacher shortage needs and to provide a holistic teacher education preparation program to the community. This position reports to the Dean of Workforce & Public Service and exercises Professional and Support Staff supervision.
NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a current Texas teacher certification. 
Experience: More than three years of professional experience in an educational environment.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: More than three years of experience in a Texas Independent School District as a campus administrator. 
 
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Current pedagogy and classroom management. 2. TEA guidelines for maintaining a certification program. 3. TEA guidelines for required curriculum and candidate placement. 4. MCC policies and procedures. 5. Budget preparation and administration. 6. Unit planning and data analysis used to evaluate the program. Skills in: 7. Maintaining schedules at MCC and participating school districts, as well as observing state and federal reporting scheduling.  8. Evaluating candidates using the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System. Ability to: 9. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 10. Fairly, and consistently, apply all program guidelines. 11. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
