Major Responsibilities and Duties
Law Enforcement teacher Duties:
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
Student Growth and Development
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Communication
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Safety Coordinator Duties:
Develop policies and procedures for Moody ISD’s police department.
Assist in coordinating the District’s response to urgent, emergency, risk management and/or any safety-related situations arising at campuses and District facilities.
Serve as the District’s emergency management coordinator for purposes of developing,maintaining, implementing and revising the District’s Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan (MEOP) in compliance with applicable law and regulations.
Assist in coordinating the District’s Safety and Security Committee, and serve as presiding officer at committee meetings
Assist in directing the regular review and update of campus emergency operations plans
Assist in directing state-mandated safety and security audits of campuses and other district facilities
Assist in directing emergency preparedness training and related activities with campuses and/or outside agencies to promote and/or test emergency readiness of various district components
Foster ongoing, positive relationships between the district and local police departments, fire departments and emergency management departments
Assist in directing the Behavior Threat Assessment teams
Attend meetings of various district stakeholders to make presentations concerning district safety and security efforts and/or to answer questions concerning specific events occurring within the district.
Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor Policy, Reports, and Law.

Police Chief
Direct the daily operations of the district police department to ensure effective law enforcement.
Coordinate enforcement activities with other department directors and campus principals and work cooperatively to develop and implement preventative security programs and other safety programs.
Investigate and make recommendations on all complaints and accusations made against district police officers or staff.
Ensure enforcement of all laws and ordinances within the scope of board policy.
Oversee investigation of criminal activities that occur within the district’s jurisdiction and support other agencies conducting investigations.
Serve as district liaison to state and local law enforcement agencies, juvenile authorities, first responders and represent the district and department on assigned committees and tasks.
Be present at all assigned district extracurricular activities.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required.
Maintain all certifications required.


  • Qualifications
    Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university (Preferred).
    Texas Peace Officer license issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
    School Resource Officer certification (Preferred).
    Mental Health Officer certification (Preferred).
    Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
    Eligible to become police chief when the department is established.
  • At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
