SECONDARY GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

PRIMARY PURPOSE
 
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program at assigned campus. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students. Deliver guidance curriculum in various group sizes. Educate students of skills necessary to address troublesome circumstances, support students in challenging situations, and assist students with needed resources to navigate crisis situations.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Master's degree in Counseling from an accredited college or university Valid Texas
  • Valid Texas School Counselor certificate as required by the State Board of Education Certification
  • Two years teaching experience
  • Thorough understanding of school operations
  • Strong Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Provide guidance and counseling services conducive to all students achieving their individual potential academically, socially, and emotionally
  • Address problems which prevent or interfere with student learning.
  • Implement the school guidance and counseling program to support the district mission, goals, and plans.
  • Provide consultation to school administrators, teachers, staff, students and parents regarding the personal social and emotional needs of students.
  • Provide individual / group counseling for at-risk students.
  • Provide support for new and returning students.
  • Raise the level of understanding among all staff about SEL-based approaches for working with individual students.
