JOB TITLE:            HIGH SCHOOL MATH TEACHER
REPORTS TO:       PRINCIPAL

SALARY RANGE: $51,000-$61,081 ANNUALLY

LOCATION:           KINGSLAND SCHOOL - KINGSLAND TEXAS
STIPENDS:            $2000 MATH & $2000 TITLE 1

POSITION SUMMARY:
The teacher will monitor student learning and progress on online curriculum, support student learning through re-teaching and small group interventions, communicate student progress to parents and coordinator, differentiate instructional methodologies for individual student needs, facilitate student behaviors, and implement established campus and classroom systems. Coordinate online and blended learning
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Actively monitors students during the instructional time.
  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate student needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and implement strategies for individual learners.
  • Reviews and scores assignments needing teacher review.
  • Re-teaches assignments to individual students as necessary.
  • Reassigns quizzes, assignments, or tests as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Provides individual assistance to students, as necessary.
  • Monitors students’ adherence to daily schedule.
  • Initiates and participates in conferences with students and/or parents as necessary.
  • Records student attendance accurately and timely each period.
  • Supports and implements the classroom procedures adopted by campus.
  • Utilizes effective positive behavior support strategies in the classroom.
  • Implements classroom management system with positive attitude.
  • Follows the established discipline sequence.
  • Supervises students during breaks.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of campus and district staff to serve the needs of all students.
  • Reports and communicates student progress to campus coordinator and parents.
  • Resolves parent/student issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Manages student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Assists in monitoring students and creating a safe campus environment by reporting to duty assignments as assigned by principal.
  • Participates in all continuing professional development and relevant ARD meetings.
  • Compiles, maintains, and submits reports, records and other documents, as required.
  • Protects confidentiality of students and their families.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Support the mission and vision of the campus and district.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of the campus and district.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of:
  • Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instructing student in the subject and grade level assigned.
  • Strong knowledge of developing curriculum and along with integrating technology into daily instruction. 
 
Ability to:
  • Design, develop, and implement subject area curriculum that is based on best practices.
  • Provide effective and innovative learning experiences for students at a college preparatory level.
  • Provide an attractive, inviting and stimulating learning environment and develop positive relationships with students.
 
Experience:
  • Successful completion of student teaching at a recognized college or university or other applicable field/volunteer work.
 
Education:  
  • A four-year degree from an accredited college/university
  • Texas Teacher Certificate or on an approved alternative certification plan in the areas of Math with a working knowledge of science and social studies.
  • CPR and first aid strongly desired.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, in-door, and out-of-door activities and some lifting. 
  • Must have and maintain a level of general physical/emotional health which permits effective performance of duties.  
  • Regularly lifts and carries 1 - 25 pounds. 
  • Required high level of mental alertness and requires ability to tolerate high levels of stress.
