SUMMARY

Position is for a lead instructor in a national Project Lead the Way Lauch program at the Elementary School Level. Applicants may hold licensure in elementary, science, mathematics, industrial technology or engineering technology and have participated or be willing to participate in appropriate PLTW training. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
 
General Responsibilities:
As the educational leader in the classroom, the teacher is responsible for the implementation of district curriculum in a way that maximizes student learning.  The teacher is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all students within his/her assignment.  Teacher supports the growth of the STEM curriculum by planning lessons and providing instruction for students in the areas of (but not limited to):Coding, Robotics, Problem/Project Based Learning, and Design Process.
 
Duties:
  • Write and implement long-range plans which incorporate district/course curricular objectives
  • Write and implement daily plans which incorporate district/course curricular objectives
  • Plans and implements plans to address the needs of individuals and/or small group instruction
  • Incorporates curricular revision and new programs into instruction
  • Organization and management
  • Organized the classroom for efficient use of instructional time.
  • Has supplies, materials and equipment available for use.
  • Keeps student records and permanent folders current and readily available for teacher, student or parent reference.
  • Maintains information for classroom management.
Instruction
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of subject area and the ability to convey it to the students.
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize information for local presentations.
  • Teaches to the objective and uses a variety of materials.
  • Demonstrates effective presentation skill and styles which reflect curricular objectives.
  • Focuses students for instruction.
  • Provides for all students to be actively involved in a lesson.
  • Monitors student responses and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Uses reinforcement to influence positive behavior.
  • Presents clear, legible and precise directions.
  • Provides guided and independent practice.
  • Applies appropriate closure in a lesson presentation.
  • Maintains, administers and utilizes tests as an instructional tool.
  • Evaluates student work and communicates progress.

May supervise one or more teacher’s aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees/volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


 Valid Texas Teaching Certificate.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, administration, staff, parents, and the general public.
 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
 
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
 
REASONING ABILITY
 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
