Primary Purpose:
Evaluate, implement, and maintain district-wide system administration, email management, server monitoring, and security protection.
 
Qualifications:

Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant certifications. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
  • Preferred certifications: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Nutanix Certified Associate (NSA)

Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers 2022,
  • Knowledge of computer workstation setup (Windows 10, 11 Operating System; Microsoft Office 365 Suite)
  • Microsoft SCCM, application packaging and deployment, and image creation for end user machines.
  • The use of PowerShell for scripting and automating tasks.
  • Knowledge of Azure AD.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Servers, Active Directory, and network protocols.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Nutanix, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with cloud services and technologies.
  • Familiarity with cyber security best practices and student data privacy.
  • Able to coordinate with relevant technology staff regarding user support and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge in networking Shares, Printers, and Applications.
  • Experience working with scheduled backups and change management documentation.
  • Able to assist with the development of policies, procedures as required.
  • Collaborates on special projects; may track and allocate software licenses.
  • Ability to plan, troubleshoot, and manage current infrastructure, data systems, and security.
  • Ability to work and perform under pressure; ability to work independently and self-motivated. 
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks with minimal direction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff and to work as a member of a team through excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Serves as high-level technical engineering leader on complex projects for the district through all stages of research, development, and implementation.

Experience
  • Five years or more of related work experience as an infrastructure & systems engineer, network engineer, systems engineer, support analyst, network administrator, systems administrator, technology instructor, programmer or programmer/analyst in a similar hardware and software environment.
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provides system maintenance, upgrading, and planning on all district servers, patch management, desktop operating systems, desktop management, and resource management accountability including, but not limited to: Windows Core Server architecture.
  • Keeps updated on all viruses that may potentially attack user’s internal email.
  • Acts as operational administrator for the Staff and Student domains (design, implementation, maintenance).
  • Serves as the Corsicana ISD E-Mail System Administrator in maintaining the MS Exchange Server hardware and software support, and provides disaster recovery for all CISD e-mail boxes.
  • Plans and supervises installation, development, and enhancement of systems and diagnoses hardware and software problems.
  • Researches and recommends server, storage, and backup solutions for MS Office 365 and Windows platforms.
  • Maintains and monitors relevant operating system(s) and network performance with associated tools and utilities.
  • Provides system maintenance, upgrade, and planning on all district desktop operating systems, desktop management, and resource management.
  • Acquires a minimum working knowledge of applications in order to optimize performance, resolve problems, and modify as required.
  • Collaborates with the district administrative and instructional technology staff to provide consistent, reliable and highly available systems and resources for instructional purposes.
  • Provides system/application administration such as account management, storage assignments and access authorization.
  • Provides expert input in recommending hardware and software configurations, solutions, and planning on all technology resources.
  • Assists in the development of new and/or revised administrative methods or policies to improve utilization, reporting, and overall accountability in administration of systems and applications to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization.
  • Installs/repairs data processing equipment at District Administration building as well as delivers/installs/repairs data processing equipment at other District facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
 Equipment Repair and Maintenance
  • Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.

Equipment Used:
Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations. Personal computers and peripherals including printers.
 
Working Conditions: (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors)
Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent districtwide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day for scheduled periods.
