Primary purpose:  Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.  Maintain athletic fields for the district.
 
Qualifications:  
·         Valid Texas Driver’s License
·         Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
·         Ability to communicate effectively
·         Ability to operate power-driven equipment
·         Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.
·         Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
·         Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
  • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
·         Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds  
maintenance
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Grounds and Landscaping

·         Mow and detail all athletic fields.
·         Follow scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns by watering, fertilizing, and  
             controlling weeds.
·         Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
·         Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from athletic facilities.
·         Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
 

Cleaning

·         Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms at field house and Ag building
·         Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
·         Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
 
 
Maintenance and Repair

·         Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.  Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to Athletic Director.
·         Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by Athletic Director.
 

Safety

·         Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.

·         Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
·         Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
·         Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
·         Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
·         Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
 

Other

·         Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including backhoe, tractor, grader; and power mower; light truck or van.  Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater.
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
