GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for all students who attend the Child Development Lab School. Assisting classroom teachers in the administration of developmental curriculum. Receives general supervision from the Facility Director and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Earned CDA credential or a minimum of 12 credit hours completed in early childhood education/child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education from an accredited college or university from an accredited college or university.
Experience: More than 6 months of experience working with young children ages birth to five (5) years, including work study, graduate work, and internships.
Special Requirements: A minimum of 30 hours additional child development training per year. Commitment to obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR, Reporting and Recognizing Abuse and Neglect and other required trainings certifications within 90 days of employment.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Texas DFPS minimum standards and National Associate for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) program standards. 2. Children’s nutrition. 3. Appropriate child guidance techniques. Skills in: 4. Working with young children. 5. CPR/First-Aid. Ability to: 6. Work cooperatively with coworkers. 7. Communicate professionally using oral and written methods. 8. Problem-solve and make classroom decisions in a timely manner. 9. Model appropriate teaching, interaction, and guidance strategies for lab students and teacher aides.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
