GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Early Childhood Apprenticeship Specialist will create and maintain apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship educational pathways that lead to postsecondary credentials and gainful employment. The Early Childhood Apprenticeship Specialist will work closely with child care employers who employ the apprentices, the Department of Labor, the Heart of Texas Workforce Board, McLennan Community College’s Child Studies and Education programs, and other state and federal agencies in the development, implementation, and maintenance of apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships programs. This position receives general direction from the Dean of Workforce & Public Service and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience: More than two years of work experience in education, career services, workforce program development, apprenticeship programs, or adult education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or related field
Experience: Three years of work experience in early childhood program development and or registered apprenticeship development
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of:1. Development and assessment of early childhood education (or related field) industry training needs. 2. Apprenticeship programs and curriculum development. 3. Applicable federal, state, and campus rules and regulations. 4.Principles and strategies used in effectively managing educational apprenticeship programs. Skills in: 5. Presenting information to diverse groups at all levels. 6. Analytical and problem-solving. 7. Searching, finding, and organizing data from multiple sources in an effort to maintain a successful program. 8. Using Microsoft Office, and other software applications required to complete the responsibilities of the position. 9. Prioritizing and organizing tasks achieve measurable outcomes within desired timelines (time management, goal setting). Ability to:10. Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. 11. Work independently and exercise good judgment. 12. Track and manage multiple projects. 13. Establish and maintain positive relationships with those contacted internally and externally. 14. Collect and analyze data related to workforce trends.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
