POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coach
LOCATION: Morgan Independent School District
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 11 months
PROJECTED START DATE: January 2025
PROJECTED SALARY: TBD
POSITION SUMMARY: Instructional coach is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting administration, teachers, and students with the goal of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required
Master’s degree from accredited college or university preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements, preferred experience in K-12 campuses
Classroom teaching experience (3-5 years minimum)
Demonstrated competency in core academic subjects
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to instruct/coach teachers
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Bilingual preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and
measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development
and student learning.
Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional
skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
Evaluate the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers
to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students
in classroom.
Support teacher effectiveness in accordance with established district programs.
Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators and staff.
Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and
apply instructional strategies.
Develop curricular or behavior support materials as needed.
Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the
state and national levels in area assigned.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Convey information to parent and community members about school programs.
Provide student interventions (academic and behavioral) as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a supervisory position. Specific supervisory responsibilities TBD.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult and child learners in a nonthreatening manner in order to facilitate collaborative teaching methods and pedagogical growth to new and experienced teachers. Must develop expertise of HQIM used by the district and support instructional staff during the adoption and implementation of said curriculums to support lesson internalization and fidelity of instruction.
