PRIMARY PURPOSE:
 
Lead redesign and transformation efforts for the district by providing direct support and guidance to principals, campus leadership teams and school communities in order to increase student achievement. Assist in developing short and long term goals to ensure successful implementation of such efforts.
 
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:
District residency is required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in educational administration, doctorate preferred
Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)
Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in T-TESS
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proven track record of success in driving student achievement
Inspiring leader, able to quickly build trust and strong working relationships with school leaders, teachers, staff, students, parents and other community members
Strong belief in empowering school sites and building school capacity
Ability to model an open and honest dialogue with all stakeholders; someone who is able to have difficult conversations in order to create the best working environment for students and adults
Experience leading and managing multiple, complex projects in a fast paced setting
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of effective instructional strategies and researched-based practices
Exhibits research and evaluation skills necessary to conduct needs assessments, analyze data and determine progress status
Proficient with multiple forms of educational technology
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
 
 
Experience:
Three years experience in instructional leadership roles
Five years experience in classroom teaching
 
 
 
 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provide leadership in the design and implementation of improvement planning, data analysis and organizational strategies
  1. Build system-wide capacity to support dramatic redesign and transformation efforts
  2. Provide direct support and guidance to principals to improve the academic culture and conditions of schools in order to dramatically increase student achievement and teacher practice
  3. Ensure that schools create a strong program of study, including execution of a master schedule that meets the needs of all students
  4. Develop, implement and manage the evaluation of all aspects of the school redesign/transformation model
  5. Determine needed changes and identify strategic approaches
  6. Direct the creation and execution of a detailed project plan to guide the implementation of subsequent years of school redesign and transformation
  7. Clarify the redesign/transformation process for all stakeholders
  8. Develop a balance of strategic and tactical plans to achieve immediate success while maintaining long-term vision
  9. Assist, support and coach school level administration and school leadership teams as it pertains to redesign/transformation
  10. Comply with district policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations affecting schools
 
 
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
            Secondary supervision to campus principals

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate diverse district functions; and maintain emotional control under stress.
 
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Occasional district and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
