Elementary Dyslexia/Reading Interventionist
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Must possess and maintain a Dyslexia Reading Certification
- Reading/English Teaching Certification
- Minimum of three years in the classroom
- Special Education Certification
- Master Reading Certification
- ESL Certification
Essential Functions:
- Implement Dyslexia program at the campus level ensuring that Federal, State, and District policies/guidelines are followed and in compliance
- Design and implement lesson plans that use best practices for reading/dyslexia classes
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure appropriate reading comprehension strategies are provided
- Provide direct services in the area of reading, dyslexia, assessment, identification, interventions and progress monitoring
- Work with campus staff, so that appropriate classroom accommodation are provided for students identified with dyslexia
- Knowledgable about the RTI process and able to interpret data to determine appropriate RTI student groups and their need for instructional intervention
- Maintain awareness of current research and development in dyslexia and research based reading practices
- Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills
- Document and Communicate progress of students requiring reading/dyslexia intervention support to parents, teachers, and administrators on a regular basis
- Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to reading instruction using a progress-monitoring instrument as a base
- Assist in the evaluation of ongoing programs and make recommendations for change
- Maintain confidentiality of information
