Primary Purpose:
Direct the analysis, preparation and maintenance of the District’s budgets. Provide leadership and direction for the processing of payroll and the related tax reporting. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and oversee periodic and annual reporting.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, required 
  • Major in accounting, TASBO certification and/or CPA, preferred 

Special Knowledge/Skills: 
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures 
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting 
  • Knowledge of the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG) 
  • Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Federal payroll tax reporting, and Teacher Retirement System of Texas reporting 
  • Familiarity with grants accounting 
  • Shall possess a working knowledge of school board policy, administrative regulations and program directives concerning accounting procedures, familiarity and knowledge of school district programs 
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records 
  • Ability to create, analyze, coordinate, and disseminate highly technical information 
  • Ability to direct, coordinate, and establish priorities for a variety of complex fiscal operations 
  • Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner 
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications to create spreadsheets, databases and do word processing 
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills 

Minimum Experience: 
  • Minimum of five years of experience in accounting, budgeting, payroll, and/or financial management, preferably with a governmental or public education agency
