FISD is seeking a fine arts/music teacher to serve its Elementary and Intermediate campuses.  Applicant must be a fully certified teacher in Texas.   
 
Primary Purpose:  Initiate a new music program for students in grades PK -5.  Ensure that the development and delivery of the curriculum and instructional program is effective and efficient, incorporates district goals and supports student achievment.
 
Program Planning:
 
• Develop a music program for the elementary school.
• Primarily to direct elementary students in basic music; teaching a day of singing and/or art is a possibility.
• Establish performance requirements and enforce academic requirements.
• Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in the content area.
• Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
• Recommend policies to improve program.
• Coordinate with Middle/School Band teacher to promote vertical alignment of the music program instruction.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
