SUMMARY


Works with the Chief of Communications and Community Relations and the Public Information Officer to carry out the day to day functions of the Communications Department.  The Digital Communications Coordinator will help to support projects that effectively communicate on the district’s behalf by all contemporary means (digital, social and print media). This position will assist in promoting and advancing the positive perception of Temple ISD in our community and throughout the region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Assist with overseeing the daily tasks and projects of the Communications Department.
  • Coordinate and schedule social media posts through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Create visual content for social media.
  • Update, edit, and add information to the district website.
  • Assist in updating, editing and adding content on campus websites.
  • Manage the communications.org email inbox.
  • Approve requests for flyer distribution.
  • Oversee the district’s parent communication platform.
  • Assist with producing and distributing the weekly staff newsletter.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings.
  • Attend Board of Trustees meetings as requested.
  • Be a visible presence on all TISD campuses by attending various district and campus events, including after-hour functions.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Assist in efforts to coordinate with community agencies to enhance personal excellence of students.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders, including schools.
  • Project a positive, image and demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and reasonable.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated expertise in social media communications.
  • Experience with website content management.
  • Experience or expressed interest in graphic design and video production.
  • Desktop publishing experience or expressed interest.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or communications preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental laws and regulations.  Ability to write reports, educational correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, faculty, parents, students and the community.  Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
