Job Title:  Secondary Math Intervention Teacher/Specialist   Start Date:  August 2021 
 
Reports to:  Middle School and High School Principals          Pay Scale:  CISD Teacher Scale  

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The campus Math Interventionist provides specialized instruction and intervention to identify students struggling in core content areas, monitors student progress through quantitative and qualitative measures, and provides recommendations regarding adjustments to student instructional plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Texas teacher’s certification in Secondary Math
  • Leadership and organizational qualities which include the ability to facilitate teams, communicate collaboratively, train and lead others, and coordinate data
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Response to Intervention (RtI) process, at-risk supports, and literacy development

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide daily focused instruction in small group settings in a pull-out or classroom lab setting to support struggling students with making accelerated progress.
  • Maintain a caseload of students receiving instructional interventions services
  • Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining progress monitoring records and anecdotal information in order to effectively measure student progress while participating in given interventions.
  • Use a variety of assessments and monitoring tools to help diagnose and prescribe individual students' needs as well as monitor the progress of individual students daily and throughout the year.
  • Participate in all required professional development and district level meetings. The Title I Interventionist is charged with acquiring the knowledge, skills, technology skills, and instructional intervention strategies necessary to effectively impact student achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and administration.
  • Meet regularly with the school administration to keep them abreast of student progress.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and legal/local board policies.
  • Other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the director.
  • Actively pursue opportunities for life-long learning and professional growth.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate the campus Gifted and Talented program
  • Display appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model for students
  • Exhibit dependability and punctuality in assigned duties
