Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences concentrating on Reading development designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

 

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned

Master of Education or Master of Reading, preferred
ESL endorsement preferred

 

In-depth knowledge of reading readiness, development, and comprehension

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction relating to reading development

Calm and patient demeanor with students and others

 

At least one semester of student teaching or approved internship

Three-years teaching experience preferred

Master Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist Certifications, preferred
