GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Will instruct college-level courses in Child Development, Early Childhood Education and/or Education, including courses that prepare first-year students for a successful college experience (ex. Learning Framework). May teach courses designed to meet the needs of student affinity groups and/or include embedded peer-mentors. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, developing and measuring student learning outcomes for courses and programs, updating curriculum, implementing Coordinating Board guidelines, participating in college and community committees, promoting and supporting the department's mission and goals, extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development activities, working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include face-to-face and non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, blended, and/or online courses. This position reports to the Program Director for Child Studies & Education. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or related field from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.  
Experience: Three years of professional work experience in Early Childhood, teaching ages birth to 7 years of age. At least one year of full-time experience teaching adult learners in a collegiate or professional setting.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Recent teaching experience at the community college level.

Evaluate student performance. 9. Promote and support related extra-curricular activities. 10. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 11. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 12. Advise students. 13. Participate in college committees. 14. Work across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. 15. Work directly with young children, within the Lab School setting, to model teaching strategies for college students.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional field trips.  Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs,). Walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis.  Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
