Primary Purpose:
To coordinate the efforts of the Copperas Cove ISD Technology Team consisting of instructional technology specialists, network engineers, technicians, and service desk personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or equivalent experience and certifications required
- Three (3) years of experience supporting teachers in a K-12 environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of issues surrounding large enterprise (10,000 plus device) network infrastructure
- Five (5) years of experience managing computer operating systems, data communication local and wide area networks, and technology procurement
- K-12 experience preferred, but not required.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
1. Extensive knowledge of voice, video, and data systems.
2. At least 5 years of actual experience managing and supporting the following in a large organization:
a. Cisco or equivalent network electronics, including Cisco VOIP Systems
b. Robust Wi-Fi Infrastructure
c. VMware
d. Exchange online and Microsoft 365
e. Standard network security and end user protection
f. Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity
g. Schoology learning management system
h. Shared storage solutions
i. Cloud applications
j. Skyward and related information systems
k. Windows, and Apple desktop computers
l. Chrome, iPad, and Windows tablets
3. Actual experience implementing technology into a large organization environment.
4. Understanding of how K-12 teachers leverage technology for teaching and learning
5. Understanding of customer service and technology support strategies such as ITIL.
6. Understanding of State of Texas Procurement Best Practices for K-12 Schools.
7. Experience with the Federal Erate Program
8. Understanding of 21st Century Technology Skills required by students and staff
9. Knowledge of instructional issues facing a modern K-12 system.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
The Chief Technology Officer shall:
- Be a working Director of Technology that directs efforts of the CCISD Technology Services Team.
- Oversee campus technology specialists
- Support district staff and students in technology usage
- Work with third-party support services
- Oversee technology upgrade projects
- Ensure data and network security
- Implement standard backup, recovery, and business continuity practices
- Interact with technology vendors to determine best products for district needs.
- Work with district purchasing department to maintain best practices for procurement of technology equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Paraprofessional staff as assigned.
Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
District wide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
