 SUMMARY
Assists in providing speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice or language disorders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
·       Implement treatment programs designed by supervising licensed SLP
·       Conduct speech and language screenings
·       Collect data
·       Schedule therapy
·       Administer routine tests as defined by the SBOE for Speech –Language Pathology and Audiology
·       Prepare instructional/therapeutic materials
·       Maintain therapy records notes to reflect 100% on the PBMAS compliance monitoring document.
·       Assists with planning and presentation of professional development programs for special education personnel.
·       Assists with planning and presentation of professional development programs for regular education personnel as requested by administration.
·       Participate in appropriate staff development
·       Participate in SBOE approved continuing education
·       Attend weekly meetings with supervising SLP
·       Perform other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Baccalaureate Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders from ASHA accredited university, minimum or 25 hours of clinical observation in the area of speech-language pathology and a minimum or 25 hours of clinical assisting experience in the area of speech-language pathology.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences including conferences with parents, community service providers, district staff, chairing committee meetings, preparing written student evaluations, preparing written reports regarding program implementation/recommendations, preparing policies and procedures, and conducting staff development activities.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform basic math and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid License as an Assistant in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the State Board of Examiner’s for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
