Itasca High School is seeking an Ag Science and Technology teacher that will specify in wood and metal shop classes.. We are looking for someone who is energetic and has a passion for teaching students. Potential candidates should possess experience to ensure the development and delivery of agriculture science curriculum and instruction. Major responsibilities/Duties: Teach Ag Science with a primary focus on wood/metal shop classes and work collaboratively in the FFA program with our current Ag teacher. Experience in Ag Mechanics shows and a willingness to travel for both Ag Mechanics and  stock shows is required. CDL bus driving license is a BIG plus.  
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
1.Oversee Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP), including assisting students in selecting and managing projects.
2.Serve as advisor to local Future Farmers of American (FFA) chapter, including planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development, and competitive activities for students at local, regional, and state level.
3.Assist with planning and delivery of adult education and community programs relating to agricultural science and technology.
4.Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
5.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
6.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
7.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
8.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
9.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
10.Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
11.Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development
12.Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
13.Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
14.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
15.Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
16.Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
17.Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
18.Accompany and supervise students at all off-campus activities including contests, workshops, and field trips associated with the agricultural science program and FFA.
19.Oversee process of maintaining facilities and equipment.
20.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
21.Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
22.Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
23.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
24.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Budget and Inventory
25.Coordinate fundraising activities and manage funds.
26.Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets related to the program.
27.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Professional Growth and Development
28.Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
29.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
30.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
31.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district and regional travel, occasional statewide travel, prolonged and irregular hours. Regular lifting and carrying moderate weight, frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to extreme temperatures and biological and chemical hazards.
Qualifications Required: 
All candidates must be certified in Ag Science and Technology 6-12
Experience: Preferred 
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
    Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
    Demonstrated competency in agricultural science
