POSITION:             Part- Time Crossing Guard
REPORTS TO:
       Principal
FSLA STATUS:      Non-exempt position
SALARY RANGE:  $14.00-$17.00 (salary increase 2022-2023)
WORK DAYS:        176 
SCHEDULE:           Monday - Friday 7:00 am- 8:30am & 2:30pm-4:00pm (15hrs per week)


POSITION SUMMARY:
This employee would help break down the cones from the previous day and help direct traffic and students crossing along Higgs road into the school entrance. They will set up the cones for the afternoon and help people cross in front of the Student Union office until the students get off school at the end of the day. Then they will help students cross the street at Higgs road until 4 pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and control student traffic, pedestrians or bicycles at designated school-crossing areas. 
  • Report incidences of unsafe or reckless driving to the building administrator. 
  • Use and maintain designated crossing guard equipment; wear appropriate attire for weather conditions such as raincoat, gloves, etc. 
  • Communicate professionally to students, parents, staff, and community. 
  • Report to the assigned area in a timely manner and remain at post until students have utilized support. 
  • Follow educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
  • Must maintain adequate means of contact and response, such as cellular telephone. 
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • First aid and/or CPR helpful.
  • Knowledge of basic traffic safety regulations
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • The essential duties, functions and responsibilities and overtime eligibility may vary based on the specific tasks assigned to the position.
  • Skill in effectively communicating with students.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High School diploma or GED

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, and twisting
Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours
